The academy is based in 1945 as the Belarus theatrical institute, per 1953 is renamed into the Belarus theatrically-art institute, and since 1991 - the Belarus academy of arts.

Today in Academy 3 faculties work: theatrical, art and faculty of design; about 15 faculties, 624 students, 120 teachers, including professors and doctors of sciences. Training day time and correspondence. Since 1969 the postgraduate study works. With 1993 annenoaioo?a-training is opened. Since 1984 the academy prepares the staff for cinema and TV. Since 1978 the student's theatre, and with 1985 - a museum works. At academy the Minsk art school and the Minsk art liceum are created.

Theatrical faculty
In 1945 over actor's faculty P.Koblja, the teacher of the Belarus language supervised. Per 1971 in connection with increase in quantity of specialities (direction, theater science, cultural-educational work) the actor's faculty has been renamed in theatrical, and the dean had been appointed A.Pershits, the senior teacher of scenic movement and fencing. In different year over faculty supervised: A.Butakov, J.Gromov, E.Adamovich, V.Zabela, V.Mishchanchuk. Today over theatrical faculty honored artist RB , professor V.A.Mishchanchuk supervises . The faculty includes following faculties : actor's art (managing faculty - the honored worker of arts, professor L.A.Monakova), directions (managing faculty - senior lecturer G.I.Borovik), scenic speech and a vocal (managing faculty - professor A.A.Shagidevich), film-telearts (V.P.Zabela managing faculty), histories and theories of arts (managing faculty - professor V.S.Ivanovsky).
At faculty preparation of the professional staff on following specialities is conducted: the actor of dramatic theatre and cinema, the actor of theatre of dolls, the actor of musical theatre, the director of a drama, the director of theatre of dolls, direction of a feature film, direction of TV, zvukorezhissura , theater science, teleoperatorstvo , art criticism.

Faculty of actor's art
The faculty has been opened in 1946 and to its first managers there was a known figure of a theatrical art, the director, the playwright, the national actor of Belarus, professor E.A.Mirovich, one of founders of the Belarus National drama theatre of a name of J.Kupaly in Minsk.
The teaching staff of faculty of actor's art became a basis of the faculty of the Belarus academy of arts.
Huge influence on development of theatrical formation in Belarus was rendered by one of coryphaeuses of the Belarus theatre the national actor of Belarus, professor K.Sannikov whom many years worked as the actor and the director at theatre of a name of J.Kupaly, and with 1947 for 1965 conducted pedagogical work on faculty of actor's art. K.Sannikova's pupils became leading actors on the Belarus drama stage, among them: V.Tarasov, G.Ovsjannikov, L.Davidovich, M.Zaharevich, G.Tolkachyova, Z.Zubkova, L.Bylinskaja, M.Petrov and mn.dr .
Since 1953 manager of faculty were the national actor of Belarus, professor D.Orlov who has come to theatrical pedagogics already being the known actor and the director of the State Russian drama theatre of a name M.Gorkogo.
The honored worker of arts of Belarus L.Mazalevskaja concerns to that generation of actors which have been brought up in the Belarus drama studio in Moscow and steel in 1926 by founders of theatre of a name of J.Kolosa. Its main calling was director's and pedagogical activity. 18 person of the sixth release of actor's faculty of the Belarus state academy of arts together with head L.Mazolevskoj have made in 1955 a kernel of present Republican theatre of the young spectator.
Since 1990 faculty of actor's art the honored worker of arts, the director, professor Lydia Alekseevna Monakova manages. Having the pedagogical experience of work on actor's and director's branch about 30 years and an operational experience the main director of the Gomel regional drama theatre, Lydia Alekseevna has started responsibilities managing faculty, adhering to main principles of education of actors and directors which its teachers used and has headed for the further development of a technique of training to bases of a aeo??nei-director's trade and search of new forms of preparation of figures of a theatrical art.
